Inhalt: Atlanta, Georgia, USA: In die Notaufnahme des Metro General Hospitals wird Michael Clark (Jeremy Childs) eingeliefert, der einen Selbstmordversuch gemacht hat. Doch eine Reanimation bringt keinen Erfolg, er stirbt. Nach der üblichen Untersuchung in der Pathologie und Aufbewahrung in der Leichenhalle erwacht er jedoch plötzlich unbemerkt, wandelt im Krankenhaus umher und legt sich in ein freies Bett. Nachdem er dort gefunden wird, weiß niemand, wer er ist. Vorsichtshalber nimmt Dr. Daniel Forrester (Shane Carruth) ihn auf die psychiatrische Station auf, da er sich offenbar in einem katatonischen Zustand befindet, in dem er nichts von der Umwelt mitbekommt. Als er den Pfleger Travis (J. Thomas Bailey) angreift, versucht man ihn mit der Gabe von Medikamenten zu beruhigen und bringt ihn in eine Isolierzelle. Doch auch dort greift er wieder Travis an, der benommen das Krankenhaus verlässt. Währenddessen wird der Verlust des Toten in der Leichenhalle bemerkt und der Pathologe Dr. Edward Graham (Bill Feehely) beginnt zu ermitteln, wo der Tote geblieben ist. In der Wohnung des Toten findet er ein seltsames Symbol in der Badewanne...
